Attention Mr Farahbakhsh, please pass this email on – to help save people's lives!
I really appreciate all that you are doing for this site and the fostering of Iranian music such as Golha. The Radio Golha site is like a bridge to connect all likeminded Iranians in the world.
We in Australia are mourning the tragic deaths of asylum seekers who drowned off the coast of Christmas Island, Western Australia in the last couple of days. The recent terrible stormy weather made it even more treacherous to try to land a boat of asylum seekers in Australia from Iran and Iraq via Indonesia.
Approximately 50 people have died trying to seek asylum in Australia by boat in the last couple of days. Although some Australians have been worried about illegal immigration through these "people smugglers", now we in Australia are overwhelmed with concern that these people, especially women and children were not able to be saved. Many local Australians on Christmas Island, put their own lives at risk, trying desperately to save the passengers as the ship was smashed onto the rocky cliff below. They threw down life-jackets, rope, and anything they could find, as they themselves struggled not to be swept into the water or injured by the pieces of smashed up boat raining from the sky.
I would like to plead with anyone considering attempting to come to Australia by boat in such a way to understand how dangerous it really is, especially in this stormy summer. The boats that some people are using are not safe enough and the captains are not able to look after the passengers properly.
This letter is written by Ms Sanjarizadeh and she asks all the dear friends to please send this to everyone you know, so that no more people will die in such a tragic way on a small boat to Australia.
Regards
